ctia-sign-20110322

For tech reporters and bloggers there’s annual tech conventions, that are must go, such as CES in Las Vegas, CTIA in Las Vegas and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. CTIA today announced that they are going to emerge with MobileCon(another must go event) and form ‘super mobile show’. Last years MobileCon was pretty quiet last year and this sounds like a great opportunity for both enterprise-centric and consumer vendors to get together and bring back excitement to the event. CTIA 2014 is scheduled for September 9-11th in Las Vegas. Full press release after the break.

(UPDATE)Google buys wireless internet provider ICOA for $400 million!

UPDATE: Google and ICOA have both denied the deal. ICOA CEO have said that there is not truth behind Google purchasing ICOA.

Google is reportedly purchased wireless internet provider ICOA for $400 million. This means that Google is going to control around 1,500 wired and wireless broadband locales in public spaces, including restaurants, universities and airports across 45 US states. Google has already partnered with Boingo for free Wi-Fi hotspot services in several locations, and it’s believed that Google will now include ICOA’s hotspots to it’s current deal with Boingo.

WSJ: Google wants to be your next wireless carrier!

What is Google (GOOG) going to do next? Apparently company wants to enter the wireless carrier business to compete against AT&T and Verizon, WSJ reports. Anonymous source near the topic told to WSJ, that Google is in talks with satellite-TV provider Dish Network Corp., these talks have been ongoing now for few weeks. Other source told to WSJ that these talks aren’t advanced and might not amount to nothing.

Other source has told that Google is just one of the other companies that Dish has held discussions. Google has no comment on the subject, but Dish Chairman of the Board didn’t want to name Google, but instead told that there’s discussion with company which isn’t in wireless carrier business yet, but wants to be there in the future. Google have now about $45 billion in cash, so even big investments wouldn’t hurt it’s money flow.

Would you consider Google as your wireless carrier? or is Google still just search engine for you? Leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

Nokia announces New Purity Wireless headset refresh!

Nokia has announced New Purity wireless headset refresh. Latest version of the Purity wireless headset should be available later this year with hefty 299€-376€ price. I think that’s lot of money from headset. It’s believed that Purity headset NFC capable and bluetooth streaming. Purity headset comes in four different colors including Black, Red, Yellow and White, seems to me now that Yellow is becoming very popular color among the Lumia models(Lumia 820).
