It’s now confirmed by Nokia in pdf file, that Nokia 808 PureView is the last Symbian phone. Nokia managed to sell 2.2 million symbian powered phones during last quarter, that’t half the number company sold Windows Phone devices at the same quarter. Main thanks for the good sales of PureView numbers must go to Nokia 808 PureView and it’s camera sensor. So let’s take a moment to held a one minute silent moment for a great Symbian OS.
“The Nokia 808 PureView, a device which showcases our imaging capabilities and which came to market in mid-2012, was the last Symbian device from Nokia.”
Nokia is rumored to unveil new Lumia Windows Phone with 41MP PureView camera at Mobile World Congress next month. The smartphone is codenamed as “EOS”, and it would include similar sensor to which is found on the Nokia 808 PureView. This optics would be a huge boost to the Nokia’s imagine technology, as well as provide new high-end Lumia Windows Phone to consumers.
It’s also believed that “EOS” would have aluminum body instead of polycarbonate, that is used in previous Lumia models. Nokia has previously teased at “more to come” with it’s imagine capabilities in Windows Phone. Nokia’s head of imaging technologies, Juha Alakarhu, posted following to a blog.

An Asus executive revealed to WSJ that the copmany is “in talks” with Microsoft to license Windows Phone 8. Talk is always just talk, but we all know that WP8 is in need of new partners and it’s interesting what Asus might do with the OS, we might even see Asus PadFone running Windows Phone 8. VP Benson Lin also commented the situation by saying the following:
“With our Padfone concept, the phone plus tablet, I think it makes sense for Windows 8,” Mr. Lin said. “There is no target timeline…but we are interested in making Windows phones.”
It’s still unclear how it could work. The Android-based Asus PadFone employees the exact same Android version whether it’s in tablet or in phone mode, but there’s no version of Windows currently that allows that sort of flexibility. There’s no launch date or anything else information out yet, but it’s pretty great news that we might see Asus Padfone running Windows Phone OS.
There’s been photos of Samsung’s presentation, which shows their flexible screen technology on a Windows Phone, and now someone lucky caught it on a low quality video. You can see the video after the break, and it shows clearly that the display is in fact real and it’s working. There’s also a concept video of flexible display showing the potential of the display. Check out the video and let me know would you like flexible screen on your mobile device, or in any device?

Accroding to report from Bloomberg, Taiwanese company HTC, made just $34 million in net income in quarter 4 2012. quarter 4 2012′s net income is the lowest income company made since the 2004. Company’s finances were actually slightly better than analysts expected, but $99 million drop from the Q3, and $322 million drop from year-over-year is not very pretty to watch. Even Taiwanese company released multiple flagship models(DROID DNA and Windows Phone 8X) they couldn’t make the best out of it. Need to remember too that these releases were in the middle of the quarter and so didn’t fully impact to the final result. HTC’s CEO Peter Chou though believes that “the worst for HTC has probably passed,” adding that the company will increase marketing budget considerably in effort to compete with Samsung.
Year 2012 was important year for Windows Phone 8 devices, and especially for Nokia. HTC 8X, Samsung Ativ S and Nokia Lumia 920, Windows Phone 8 flagship models, with almost similar specs, but very different looks. We are not going to concentrate in all of those, but to check how did Nokia Lumia 920 was appreciated in media in 2012.
