Microsoft has confirmed pricing of Surface with Windows 8 Pro. Variety of Surface tablets were introduced back in June, but those tablets runs Windows RT, and it was still unknown when Microsoft will be launching Surface tablet with Windows 8 Pro and with what price. Now Microsoft announced that Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro starts at $899 for 64GB model and $999 for 128GB model. Both tablets will be available in January, but there’s no word about the pre-orders yet.
The device itself looks similar as Surface RT, with “VaporMg” casing and built-in kickstand. Surface with Windows 8 Pro also packs 10.6-inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio. Biggest difference to Surface RT is that Pro version has screen resolution of 1,920-by-1080(1,366-by-768 in RT model). There’s also Core i5 CPU and mini display port that can output a 2,560-by-1,440 resolution and full size USB 3.0 port.
Windows 8 will be available to buy starting tonight. Windows 8 will be launched in over 140 countries and in 37 different languages. Windows 8 starts to sell from 12:01am for your local time, Microsoft offers it’s Windows 8 upgrade also online. Those who bought their PC after June 2nd can upgrade to Windows 8 for €14.99 and those who bought their PC running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 can buy it for €39.90. Microsoft (MSFT) has started to accept pre-orders of Windows 8 Pro. In the US, the software is available for $69.99 from Amazon (AMZN), Best Buy (BBY), Office Depot (ODP), Staples (SPLS) and from Microsoft store. The company notes that customers are able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro online or after October 26th with Microsoft’s Upgrade Assistant for only $39.99. The upgrade offer is available until January 31st 2013.
Microsoft is offering upgrade promotions for it’s new OS. Microsoft announced statement which tells that they are going to sell Windows 8 Pro upgrades online for $39,99. In stores upgrade is much higher $69,99. Offer is eligible for anybody running any version of Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. Offer is lasts until January 2013, same timeframe as in $14,99 Windows 8 upgrade.
Microsoft hasn’t release any details of Windows 8 release date, but it’s rumored to be launched this summer or fall. These offers above will be available in 131 markets and Microsoft told that they will release more info when release date is near.
