ASUS says it’s interested in making Windows Phone, Windows based Padfone?!

2013-01-16 14.27.47

An Asus executive revealed to WSJ that the copmany is “in talks” with Microsoft to license Windows Phone 8. Talk is always just talk, but we all know that WP8 is in need of new partners and it’s interesting what Asus might do with the OS, we might even see Asus PadFone running Windows Phone 8. VP Benson Lin also commented the situation by saying the following:

“With our Padfone concept, the phone plus tablet, I think it makes sense for Windows 8,” Mr. Lin said. “There is no target timeline…but we are interested in making Windows phones.”

It’s still unclear how it could work. The Android-based Asus PadFone employees the exact same Android version whether it’s in tablet or in phone mode, but there’s no version of Windows currently that allows that sort of flexibility. There’s no launch date or anything else information out yet, but it’s pretty great news that we might see Asus Padfone running Windows Phone OS.

Microsoft confirms Windows Phone 7.8 update is coming in Q1 2013!

Microsoft has finally confirmed Windows Phone 7.8 update schedule. Windows Phone 7.8 update will arrive in Q1 2013. The information was given in official Windows Phone blog today. Microsoft also told that they are now working with multiple hardware manufacturers and carriers in order to deploy Windows Phone 7.8 to “as many devices as possible”. This might be a little bummer for Windows Phone 7.5 users, as there’s been lot of talk that the update would hit device much earlier. But that said now it’s better to know that the update is truly coming, and there’s some kind of launch schedule out there now, than to be out there without any information.

Microsoft to release Windows Phone 8 OTA update to fix random reboots!

Do you have Windows Phone 8 smartphone, and you’re tired of random reboots? There’s very good news for you. Today AllThingsD reported that Microsoft has located the cause of restarts and are now working to fix it. Microsoft is going to release OTA update in December, and that update will fix the reboot issue. Microsoft is pretty coy about what’s causing devices to reboot. We’ll have to wait and see can Microsoft release a working OTA update, that would really fix the random reboot issue.
