ASUS says it’s interested in making Windows Phone, Windows based Padfone?!
An Asus executive revealed to WSJ that the copmany is “in talks” with Microsoft to license Windows Phone 8. Talk is always just talk, but we all know that WP8 is in need of new partners and it’s interesting what Asus might do with the OS, we might even see Asus PadFone running Windows Phone 8. VP Benson Lin also commented the situation by saying the following:
“With our Padfone concept, the phone plus tablet, I think it makes sense for Windows 8,” Mr. Lin said. “There is no target timeline…but we are interested in making Windows phones.”
It’s still unclear how it could work. The Android-based Asus PadFone employees the exact same Android version whether it’s in tablet or in phone mode, but there’s no version of Windows currently that allows that sort of flexibility. There’s no launch date or anything else information out yet, but it’s pretty great news that we might see Asus Padfone running Windows Phone OS.
